ABOUT XCALAK

Xcalak. Quintana Roo, México – Xcalak is a village of 375 inhabitants in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco, Quintana Roo, on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.
Xcalak is one of the last “unspoiled” stretches of Mexican Caribbean located on the Southern end of the Costa Maya. The world’s second largest barrier reef passes just off-shore from Xcalak and it is also a departure point for dive trips to the Chinchorro Banks (Banco Chinchorro) atoll reef system.

It is designated a Mexican national reef park (Parque Nacional Arrecifes de Xcalak) and is an excellent site for snorkeling, scuba diving and fly fishing. It is 60 kilometers (37mi) South of Mahahual, the site of a new large cruise ship pier, and just north of the border with Belize.

Eduardo’s place is fantastic! Went to Xcalak with my boyfriend and we had the whole place to ourselves right on the beach- which felt like such a splurge, but the place is priced super reasonably for what you get. We also enjoyed diving down the road with XTC, totally recommended it to anyone who wants to explore the beautiful waters of Xcalak. We definitely hope to come back again.

Eduardo was super awesome at accommodating our fishing trip. His place is right in town where the fishing guides pick you up. The place is far nicer and mainstream than led to believe in the pictures. It was like a rustic cabin right on the beach with lots of modern touches but yet simple because after all Xcalak is at the end of the road in Mexico with hardly any resources available such as gasoline or banks/atm etc. The experience was a pleasure and will definitely be returning. Thanks!

Great location and price! Wake up to fresh fruit and coffee. Guides pick you up at the beach 8am for a day on flats. Huge bones and permit everywhere. It has a convenient area to wash your gear on your return. The common spaces are really comfortable and a great place to unwind with a drink before dinner. The whole place has really cool aesthetic. Edgar was kind enough to help arrange our guides also. We will be back!

We had a fantastic stay at Eduardo’s place . it’s right on the beach , the veranda has a great view , the room is enormous , Eduardo and his helpers are very nice people , look forward to comming back .

The Lodge is absolutely stunning and made with lots of love . Direct at the Bech , xcalak is quit and chilled , exactly what we were looking for . we had a very nice host .

Kayak – Navigate between mangroves and lagoons in a kayak from Casa Cangrejo. Kayaks are individual and double occupancy, so partnering up is possible.
Diving – Xcalak is the center of the second world largest reef inhabited by a variety of exotic marine creatures of coral reef.
